Four Alamo City Soccer Club Players Selected for US Club Soccer id2 Player Development Program

Alamo City Soccer Club players were selected participate in the US Club Soccer id2 Player Development Program. Established in 2004, US Club Soccer’s id2 National Identification and Development Program provides an opportunity for the country’s elite youth soccer players to be identified, developed, and scouted for inclusion in U.S. Soccer’s National Team programs.  The id2 Program is an Olympic Development Program (ODP) approved by the United States Olympic Committee and the U.S. Soccer Federation.  Invitations are based upon objective scouting of elite clubs and leagues, combined with recommendations from top Directors of Coaching.

Allyna Gonzalez plays for our Alamo City SC 03G Silver team under the direction of Coach Rick Kuchka. “Allyna is extremely coachable, hard-working, and focused,” said Coach Rick. “The attitude with which she approaches practice and games serves as a great example to her teammates and ultimately led to them naming her as a Co-Captain of the team.  In addition, her toughness, versatility, and poise while under pressure have helped her become one of the top holding midfielders in the area.”

EmmaLee Wood plays for our Alamo City SC 03G Silver team under the direction of Coach Rick Kuchka. About EmmaLee Coach Rick said “I’ve been fortunate to have coached EmmaLee since she was 7 years old.  She has become a fierce competitor over the years and brings that passion to practice as well as games.  I don’t think you’ll find another Center Back at her age that takes such joy in shutting down opposing forwards.” The Co-Captain has helped anchor the back line for her team, keeping them in the race for promotion to the USC Champions League.

Kaci Barth is a goalkeeper for our Alamo City SC 03G Silver team under the direction of Coach Rick Kuchka. According to Coach Rick, Kaci “comes up big in big moments. Earlier in the year we went to penalty kicks during the final of a tournament and she blocked 3 out of the 4 shots taken on her. She has good instincts and has been working hard to improve by attending the extra goalkeeper training and conditioning sessions.” During the 2016 calendar year, Kaci accumulated 21 clean sheets across all competitions, helping her team finish 1st in A Flight of the WDDOA D1 League and take home 6 tournament championships.

Emma Thomas plays for our Alamo City SC 03G Silver team under the direction of Coach Rick Kuchka. Coach Rick stated that Emma “has exceptional speed and athleticism.  She’s always been the type of player who could take a game into her hands and make something happen, and over the past few seasons she’s added even more layers to her game.”  Emma’s ability and willingness to play in any position on the field has made her a very valuable asset for her team and also helped to develop her understanding of the game.  Her experience at multiple positions will serve her well during the id2 process.

Congratulations to EmmaLee, Allyna, Kaci, Emma and their families!  Everyone at Alamo City Soccer Club wish them continued success on their id2 journey.
