Alamo City SC Players Selected for South Texas ODP State Pool

Several Alamo City Soccer Club players were selected for the South Texas Olympic Development Program (ODP) State Pool. The Olympic Development Program is part of the original Olympic Development Program founded in 1977 by US Youth Soccer as a national identification and development program for elite level players. The program identifies and develops players to compete at the state, regional, and national levels in support of National Team development efforts.

Jordan Matthews plays for our Alamo City SC 05G Silver team under the direction of Coach Steve Abbott.  Coach Steve describes Jordan as a "selfless player who is very smart and involves her teammates for the overall betterment of the team's success. She is extremely skillful on top of being smart which makes her a valuable player." Jordan routinely attends technical training in addition to the regular team practices where Technical Director Brian Davis has helped her hone her individual skills.  Her dedication to the game and her overall development is reflected in her accomplishments.

Hunter Jackson plays for our Alamo City SC 02B Red team under the direction of Coach Nick Lee. Hunter was chosen for our 02B Red team this past summer when his family moved to San Antonio after being stationed in South Korea. Coach Nick said he “immediately noticed Hunter's amazing individual skill but what impressed me the most was his dedication to training. Hunter attended every available training session throughout the summer including all fitness sessions. His dedication to soccer and his effort will give him every opportunity to be successful and is already paying off with him making the ODP team.”

Nya Ramos plays for our Alamo City SC 05G Silver team under the direction of Coach Steve Abbott. Coach Steve describes Nya as a "well-rounded player that can play any position without question. She is extremely skilled and dedicated to making herself better on the field and off the field. She is relentless and battles to win the ball… and in addition is very selfless and possession oriented and a true team mate. I had no doubts she wouldn't be able to make it."

Jeffenia Leslie plays for our Alamo City SC 03G Silver team under the direction of Coach Rick Kuchka.  Coach Rick describes Jeffenia as a "an extremely gifted athlete with incredible speed.  I've never seen a girl her age with speed like leaves opposing coaches shaking their heads.  Her technical ability is consistently improving which makes her an even bigger threat." According to Coach Rick, "the additional technical sessions with Coach Brian Davis are making a difference, and it's a big reason for her success.  I hope that more of our club players decide to take advantage of these sessions in the future."

Shanley Rogers plays for our Alamo City SC 01G Gold team under the direction of Coach Charley Gilbert. Coach Charley said that "Shanley's work ethic and dedication is unmatched.  She has a great understanding of the game and can play multiple positions. Her willingness to be coached combined with her athleticism has her playing at a very high level, 2 years up from her birth year. I'm looking forward to seeing her progression in the coming years."

Halena Rios plays for our Alamo City SC 03G Silver team under the direction of Coach Rick Kuchka. "Helena is technically competent, has a high level of fitness, and possesses a good understanding of the game. Her ability to position herself in the right places helps the team build up the attack and creates scoring opportunities. In our last tournament, Halle was able to find the net in key moments because she knew exactly where she had to be a was ready to take advantage when her teammates found her," said coach Rick. "I believe she will do well at the ODP level."

Congratulations to Nya, Jeffenia, Helena, Shanley, Hunter, Jordan, and their families!  Everyone at Alamo City Soccer Club wishes them continued success on their ODP journey.
