Practice Days: Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:30pm - 7:30pm
Game Schedule: Games on Friday nights at 6:30 or 7:30pm. All games played at the San Antonio Surf Soccer Fields. No travel required.
Age Requirements: To join, players have a birth year 2014, 2015 or 2016 (U5-U7). This requirement is determined at the state level. Unfortunately, San Antonio Surf Soccer Club is unable to make exceptions. All teams are co-ed.
**New Covid-19 rules consist of a mandatory pre-screen prior to all practices and games. Masks must be worn by all persons age 10+ at all times (including coaches). No parents will be allowed on sidelines during practices. Parents are allowed for games but must practice safe social distancing at all times.
Player Fee: $230.00
Uniform Fee: $25.00 (Nike Jersey)
All players must be properly registered and paid before they may practice or participate in games.
U5 (2016 birth year) and U6 (2015 birth year) will play 3v3 and U7 (2014 birth year) will play 4v4 for games.
3v3 games will consist of four 8 minute quarters. 4v4 games will consist of four 10 minute quarters.
The main objective of these age groups is to get players comfortable with the ball at their feet. There are no goalkeepers and players cannot “park” themselves in front of the goal. Players can play a defensive role but are encouraged to move and get touches on the ball. All players will have an opportunity to play in different roles and positions. Balls that cross the touchline will be restarted with a kick-in rather than a throw-in. This is to increase the number of touches players get with their feet. On goal kicks, the defending team must retreat behind the halfway line and cannot cross it until the ball is played in and a touch has been taken by a receiving player.
Physical copies as well as digital copies of schedules are distributed at the beginning of the season to all parents/guardians. Each player will be assigned a team and coach. Each coach will coach 2 teams. These teams will practice together, but play on separate teams for game days.
Each game will be assigned one referee. Most of the time the referee’s will be young and new to the job. They are in the learning phase of their referee career and will make mistakes from time to time. Verbal abuse of a referee will not be tolerated. We want to help develop young confident referee’s that will be a part of the game for many years. Please consider them a part of the Surf soccer family and treat them as such.
Please encourage your child and other children with positive comments only. Anyone found being abusive to the players will be asked to leave. Please respect our coaches and let them do the coaching; parents are there to cheer and encourage. No one other than players, referees, and coaches are allowed on the field unless invited by the referee as may happen in the case of an injury.
Parents must sit on the sideline (3-5 yards off the touchline) during games on the opposite side of the field from the teams. Nobody is allowed behind the goals during games.
Please keep in mind that we are all one club/one family and we want to keep things enjoyable for the players and allow them to compete and have fun. As players advance into our Academy program the dynamic will shift a bit as we will begin playing against other clubs. At a younger age, our primary focus is helping the players with their development and fostering their love for the game. Let’s be supportive of all of our players.
We will do our best to provide an environment to encourage your player to develop soccer skills and a love for the game. We understand that sometimes soccer isn’t the right fit, that you may change your mind, or your schedule may not allow for this time commitment. Please consider these things prior to registering as we do not offer refunds on registration fees.
